Gunnar Thorhallsson, 5FS and Portage Central Mustang keeper, awarded illustrious Michigan "Mr. Soccer". First ever for a goalkeeper.
2025 MICHIGAN MR SOCCER
Since 1974, Mr Soccer Award has been given to the states most outstanding player. The one player, from all of the state of Michigan, is recognized by MHSAA as the player who impacted the game, had exceptional skills, and lead both on and off the field.
Gunnar allowed only 7 goals in 26 games, a GAA of 0.27, and 19 shutouts.
In clutch situations, Gunnar showed his composure and skill throughout the season. Stopping crucial PKs in the State Semi Final and State Final games he lead the Mustangs to their first ever Division 1 State Championship. Through Gunnar's performance, the Mustangs of Portage Central had a historic 24-0-2 record. ​
Gunnar is the first ever goalkeeper, in the history of Michigan Mr. Soccer to receive this award.​

Five Finger Save is designed and dedicated to cultivating the unique soccer goalkeeper. Understanding the demands of a goalkeeper, 5FS strives to teach each keeper the confidence and technique they need to succeed in a competitive soccer goalkeeping environment; from the quick on field reactions to being a leader on and off the field.
​
5FS encourages each goalkeeper to reach their potential through strenuous guided sessions, and individual training. With each session, from the beginner to the top-level player, the goalkeeper will learn the basic essentials and advance thinking needed to take the field with confidence.
​
5FS focuses on building a goalkeeper that will be a solid and creative part of a complete soccer team. We believe that a strong goalkeeper will change the direction and outcome of any game; that a goalkeeper, trained well, will be the beginning and end of any game!
